PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition 2026

Eligibility 參賽資格

• Secondary 4 - 5/ Grade 10 - 11/ Year 11 - 12 students in the 2025/26 with valid HKIDs and from schools situated in Hong Kong;

  持有有效香港身份證，並於2025/26學年就讀位於香港境內學校的中四至中五/ 第10－11級/ 第11－12班學生；

• Each participating team should consist of 3 - 4 students nominated by their secondary school, along with 1 teacher advisor from the same school;

  每支參賽隊伍需經由學校提名，及由3 - 4名來自同一所學校的學生及1位學校導師組成；

• In view of the overwhelming response from the previous years, each school may nominate up to ONE team for the competition.

  鑑於過往比賽報名情況熱烈，每所學校最多可提名一支隊伍參加比賽。

Registration 報名

• Online registration will be opened from 17 November to 18 December 2025.

  網上報名將於2025年11月17日起至12月18日期間開放。

• Teams should be nominated by schools through the completion of the online registration form.

  參賽隊伍需由學校提名，並填妥網上報名表格。

• This form requires the school name, teacher adviser’s and participating students' details. Please note that the contact email of the teacher advisor will be the primary mode of communication for all related updates.

  網上報名需要填寫學校名稱、學校導師和參賽學生的資料。學校導師的電郵將用作聯絡及接收消息的指定郵箱。

• Once registration has been successfully completed, a confirmation email will be sent by the Faculty of Science.

  成功報名的隊伍將會收到由理學院發出的確認電郵。

• The Hong Kong Polytechnic University reserves the right to accept registration from teams for participating in the PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition. The decision of the organiser will be final and binding on all parties concerned.

  香港理工大學保留接受隊伍參加理大科學青年人才比賽的權利。主辦單位的決定為最終決定，對各方均有約束力。

Online Briefing Session 網上簡介會

• An online briefing session with pertinent details about the competition will be held on 4 December 2025 (Thursday) from 4:30pm to 5:15pm. We encourage interested teachers and students to attend. To register for the briefing session, please click here.

Preliminary Round at PolyU Campus
於理大進行預賽

• Assessment test for participating teams to complete.
  比賽題目以隊伍形式完成。
• The Preliminary Round scores will account for 20% of the Final Competition's results.
  預賽成績將佔決賽成績的百分之二十。
 

Marking Scheme 評分準則

• Two points will be awarded for each correct answer, one point will be deducted for each incorrect answer, and no points will be given for not answering.

  答對加2分，答錯扣1分，不作答不扣分。
  
  

Question Design and Score Distribution 問題設計及得分分配

• Approximately 70% of the questions in this round will be based on the HKDSE curriculum, while the remaining 30% will cover extended knowledge and skills.

  在預賽中，約70%的問題是根據香港中學文憑考試課程設計，其餘的30%涵蓋擴展知識和技能。

Final Competition at PolyU Campus 於理大進行決賽

• Date: 21 March 2026 (Saturday)

  日期: 2026年3月21日（星期六）

• Time: 9am – 5:30pm

  時間: 上午9:00 – 下午5:30

• The Final Competition will consist of three parallel sessions in the following streams: Biology & Food Science, Chemistry, and Physics.

  比賽將分三場進行，分別為：生物與食品科學， 化學，物理。

• All teams will need to complete three tasks within the laboratory facility or classroom, with each task lasting 90 minutes.

  參賽隊伍需要在實驗室或教室中完成 3 項指定任務。 每個任務限時90分鐘。

• All participants must attend all sessions on the PolyU campus in person.

  所有參賽隊伍必須親身出席理大校園參加所有項目。

Prizes 獎項

1. Overall Winning Teams 勝出隊伍

• Champion  – Cash Prize HK$20,000

  冠軍 – 現金獎港幣$20,000 

• First runner-up – Cash Prize HK$10,000

  亞軍 – 現金獎港幣$10,000

• Second runner-up – Cash Prize HK$5,000

  季軍 – 現金獎港幣$5,000

2. Teams with Excellent Performance 團隊表現優異獎

• Apart from the overall winners, teams with excellent performance will each receive a HK$1,000 cash prize.

  除了勝出隊伍外，表現優異的隊伍將獲得現金獎港幣$1,000。

3. Awardees will be given favourable consideration for admission to PolyU.

    得獎者報讀理大將優先獲得考慮。
