The fourth PolyU Undergraduate Conference on Applied Linguistics and Language Studies (PolyU-CALLS), organised by the Department of English and Communication (ENGL), concluded successfully on 28 March 2026. The event welcomed approximately 120 attendees from PolyU, local institutions, and international peers from Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, and Russia.

The Conference featured more than 70 student presentations on diverse topics, including AI and language technologies, applied language studies, and language in pop culture. It served as a vibrant platform for academic exchange, fostering innovation among the next generation of language scholars. The Department’s Prof. Michał Krzyżanowski and ENGL alumnus Mr Phil Woo, co-founder of allcareAI, delivered plenary talks.
