Faculty of Humanities Achieves Strong Global Rankings in 2026

The Faculty has made significant strides in global subject rankings in 2026, demonstrating its growing academic strength and international reputation. In the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject. Linguistics at PolyU was ranked 45th globally in 2026, up from 51st in 2025, reflecting the strength and impact of the Faculty’s research and education in the field. In addition, the broad subject area of Arts and Humanities has also moved up in the latest rankings, reaching 72nd place worldwide this year and indicating ongoing progress across the humanities.

Complementing this achievement, the Faculty has also recorded a strong performance in the newly released Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026, with Arts and Humanities ranked 77th globally, showing a noteworthy rise from last year.

Further strengthening its global standing, the Faculty achieved outstanding results in the US News & World Report 2026–2027 Best Global Universities rankings, with Arts and Humanities ranked 23rd globally and 3rd in Asia. These rankings assess institutions based on research performance and international reputation, using indicators such as citations and global collaboration.

Together, these advancements highlight the Faculty’s strengthening international standing and reflects the collective efforts of FH academics in delivering impactful research and high-quality teaching across language, communication, history, culture, and technology.
