The Second Symposium on Cultural Symbiosis and Ethnic Integration

The Second Symposium on ‘Cultural Symbiosis and Ethnic Integration’ of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was held at PolyU from 7 to 8 November 2025. This event was jointly organised by CHC, RCCHC and Sichuan University. The interdisciplinary symposium brought together over twenty scholars based in Beijing, Chengdu, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Scholars engaged in in-depth dialogue on multiple themes including ‘Beliefs and Interactions in Frontier Regions,’ ‘Tibetan Studies and the Theory of the Chinese National Community,’ ‘Ecological Conservation and Livelihood Transformation,’ ‘Frontier Historical Geography and Social Change,’ and ‘Highland Economy and Development in Modern Times’ during the Symposium.
On 8 November, the Symposium drew to a close following concluding remarks by Prof. Han Xiaorong (CHC) and Prof. Li Jin of Sichuan University. This event represented renewed collaboration between PolyU and Sichuan University in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau studies, and the First Symposium on Cultural Co-existence and Ethnic Integration was held at Sichuan University in September 2024.
