Student conference Showcases Success of Gifted Education Fund Programme

Student Corner

GiftedEdConf

Students participating in the programme celebrate their achievements with ENGL professors.

ENGL successfully hosted the student conference for the Cultivating English Language and Digital Literacies for Future Leaders programme on 25 January 2025 at PolyU. Funded by the EDB's Gifted Education Fund, this initiative brought together 22 students from 17 Hong Kong secondary schools.

Led by a team of ENGL professors and supported by student assistants, participants developed their academic, digital, and workplace literacies through four structured phases, culminating in individual research projects.

The conference featured presentations of students’ research projects and was attended by Mr Borromeo Li (EDB representative), Prof. Xiangen Hu (Director of PolyU’s Institute for Higher Education Research and Development), Prof. Eric Friginal (Head of ENGL), and over 30 teachers, parents, and guests. Through this programme, students gained valuable skills in academic writing, critical reading, digital tools, and multimedia creation—preparing them to thrive as future leaders in our digital world.
