Bridging East and West: TAW Symposium Showcases Digital-Age Chinese Cultural Communication

Hosted by the Research Centre for Professional Communication in English (RCPCE) at ENGL, Talking Across the World (TAW) is a forum for academics and practitioners to exchange ideas, share experience, and disseminate research in professional communication in English. The 2025 symposium was co-sponsored by the Faculty of Humanities and the Sin Wai Kin Chinese Humanities Development Fund and featured the theme of Global Communication of Chinese Culture in the Digital Age.
The symposium brought together scholars, practitioners, and teachers to discuss the research on and teaching of the global communication of Chinese culture in the digital age from a wide range of perspectives, such as intercultural communication, business communication, journalism, translation studies, and language education. Over 100 participants from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macau, the United Kingdom, Japan, Africa and South Asia attended the conference. Prof. Wang Zuankai, Associate Vice President of Research and Innovation at PolyU and Mr Victor Zhao, Associate Director of PolyU Research and Innovation Office, attended the opening ceremony of the symposium as special guests.
