“Talking Across the World” Symposium

Events

The annual “Talking Across the World” symposium is a key platform for ENGL to bridge academia and industry, which fulfils the important missions of knowledge transfer and impacting the society with our research. The theme of this year’s Symposium is Post-COVID Reflection on English Language Communication at Work. It was an online symposium organised by the Department of English and Communication and Research Centre for Professional Communication in English. The symposium invited ten workplace practitioners (teachers, school/business management, marketing experts) and academics to discuss the impact of the pandemic on professional communication in three areas, namely, communication and teaching in schools, workplace communication in corporations, and external business communication like marketing and customer service. About 540 participants from across the world took part in various sessions of the Symposium.
