First International Symposium on Teaching Standard Chinese and Cantonese as a Second Language in Higher Education (TCCSL)

The 1st TCCSL Symposium was successfully held online on 14 May 2021. This inaugural event was organised by the Chinese Language Centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with the funding support from Sin Wai Kin Chinese Humanities Development Fund and Faculty of Humanities Dean’s Reserve. TCCSL is a unique opportunity for second language educators and researchers in Standard Chinese and Cantonese to learn and exchange ideas. The theme of this year is Curriculum Design, Pedagogy and Assessment. Keynote presentations were given by Prof. Zhao Hong Han from Teachers College, Columbia University, Prof. Shih-chang Hsin from National Tsing Hua University, Prof. Kang Kwong Luke from Nanyang Technological University, and Prof. Masayuki Yoshikawa from The University of Tokyo. Other invited speakers had also shared their views on the theme. Around 180 participants from around the globe attended this event.
