Topic Overview:

Fashion & textile industry is one of the most resource-intensive and polluting industry, second only to oil and natural gas industry. Textiles contribute 5-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Due to the diverse types and complex structures of textile waste, less than 10% of discarded textiles can currently be recycled or reused. In this week class, we will introduce the latest technological innovations driving the development of a sustainable textile industry, including advanced recycling, smart materials, digital production, and traceability technologies. We will also discuss current challenges and explore future directions for building a cleaner, more circular, and more responsible fashion and textile system.
