Service Description
The virtual private network (VPN) service is available to members of the University community to facilitate secure access to University IT facilities and cloud services.
Campus Remote Access Service
This VPN service allows staff, students assisting with departmental projects, and other authorised users to securely access IT resources on the campus network from remote locations. Four types of VPN service are provided:
- Staff VPN: For all PolyU staff
- Restricted Access VPN: For staff, research assistants or vendors who need to perform server administration work in the data centre
- Research VPN: For students assisting departments with research who need to access departmental hosts
- CPCE VPN: For CPCE users who need to access CPCE services on the PolyU campus

Policies
Service Level
All user requests are classified as level 1 to 3 depending on their impact and urgency.
- Level 1 – User Request Resolution Time: 1 day
- Level 2 – User Request Resolution Time: 3 days
- Level 3 – User Request Resolution Time: 5 days
