Powered Zoom Stereomicroscope for Microsurgery

The system allows researchers to perform fine surgical interventions on various animal models of physiology and diseases. It enables researchers to apply pharmacological interventions on animals to test the effect of novel drugs on the treatment of diseases.

• A Nikon SMZ25 motorized microscope (Y506)
• A glass pipette maker
• A microfluidic dispense instrument

Applications:
• Induction of ocular hypertension by cannulation
• Injecting polystyrene microsphere into the anterior chamber
• Intra-vitreal or sub-retinal delivery of viral vectors, drugs or synthetic peptides
• Emulation of optic nerve lesion/protection by compression or partial nerve cut
• Induction of diabetic retinopathy by administering streptozotocin
