SFT is thrilled to announce that our outstanding student, Cheng Hei-lam (Cherry), received the 1st Runner-up Award in the Female Trendy category at the 2026 International Footwear Design Competition (IFDC). Her design, “Morning Dews”, stood out at the competition which was organised by the Confederation of International Footwear Association (CIFA). The award presentation ceremony took place on 20 May 2026 in Guangzhou, China.

Cherry’s design was inspired by her mother’s favourite flowers found in every corner of their house. She applied a French beading technique to create the flowers, which mimics the reflection of water on the petals. Using clay and wire, Cherry provided structure to the piece, while decorative ribbons referenced the plant ties wrapped around flower pots. The design extended the bottom to create a border, which represented the delicate nature of the petals.
