EGGO (蛋壳磨砂膏)

by Ho Yi Lok, Li Jingshu, Li Peiqi, Yu Ziling

Master of Design (Innovative Business Design)

EGGO is an innovative circular economy project that transforms discarded eggshells from Hong Kong egg tart shops into natural body scrubs, creating both environmental and economic value. The project solves the lack of formal recycling channels while producing sustainable skincare products by recycling eggshell waste. The scrubs replace microplastic-based alternatives with gentle eggshell powder, reducing harm to aquatic ecosystems. Through a closed-loop system where customers return used containers for redemption, EGGO achieves an eggshell recycling rate and helps repurchases. Following circular design principles, the process prioritises low waste and sustainability, from sterilizing eggshells to grinding them into powder.
