This project is a narrative driven exploration, re-imagining the absurd and performative nature of religious ritual. Within the narrative, a misguided society believes the divine only recognises visible effort, leading to a mechanical, labour driven performance, amplifying the performative nature of ritual. Physical labour becomes a form of spiritual communication, expressed through choreographed mechanical movement and repetitive bodily exertion. Translating anatomical actions into a mechanical system, the project examines the relationship between labour, devotion, and spectacle through a series of immersive perspective drawings depicting speculative ritual environments. Whilst the narrative is mainly communicated through a series of perspective drawings, the creative process behind this project can be categorised in the following phases: anatomical exploration, movement prototyping, mechanical interpretation.
