*In light of the latest development of the novel coronavirus epidemic, all Fitness Training Course will be suspended. The course will resume as soon as the situation allows, and students and staff will be informed in advance.

Using equipment in Fitness Room to do exercise regularly is a great way to improve cardiorespiratory health and build muscle. Before your start, please join the two hours “Fitness Training Course” organized by Counselling and Wellness Section (Sports Development) of SAO to learn the basic concept of physical fitness, as well as the correct and safe ways to use the equipment inside the Fitness Room.

  • All courses are free of charge and is open to people aged 15 or above.
  • The maximum class size is 20. Please refer to the the following schedule for enrolment (first-come-first-served).

  • The 2-hour Fitness Training Course will cover both theory and practice. Participants should put on proper sportswear and sports shoes when attending the class.
  • Registered participants must attend the course on time and in proper dress code, otherwise their place would be taken up by stand-by participants.
  • Registered participants who cannot attend the courses must make the cancellation via the enrolment website as soon as possible so that his/ her place can be reallocated to other applicants.
  • Students may choose to standby by at the Fitness Room before the class commences.  They will be admitted if there is any vacancy left. Standby students are reminded to put on proper sportswear and sports shoes.
  • Applicants should take note of their own health condition, and consider whether it is suitable for them to enrol in various sports activities. In case of doubt, please consult a doctor prior to enrolment.
  • Participants can register [Sports Facilities Booking System]for use of the Fitness Room upon completion of the course.
  • Upon completion of Fitness Training Course, participants can apply for a certificate of attendance at the service counter of Shaw Sports Complex and they can then use this certificate to  register as users of the fitness rooms operated by  Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

Individuals in possession of one of the following qualifications may apply for exemption. Applicants should submit the form together with a copy of the document of relevant qualification to Shaw Sports Complex for verification.

  1. Participants who have completed the "Briefing on Proper Ways to Use Fitness Equipment" and passed the assessment organized by Leisure & Cultural Services Department (LCSD);
  2. LCSD Fitness Gold Card;
  3. Equivalent qualifications recognized by the Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong, China;
  4. Fitness Room / Weight Training Room User Card or certificates issued by universities; and
  5. Resistance Training Instructor Certificate issued by ACSM / NSCA
