Biography
Ms Vera Lam graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and obtained her master’s degree in Applied Psychology in City University of Hong Kong. She specialised in psychiatry and has provided recovery-oriented services in public hospitals for more than 15 years.
Ms Lam has extensive clinical experience in different fields including General and Community Psychiatry, Psychogeriatrics, Substance Abuse and Cognitive Assessment and Rehabilitation. Before joining PolyU, she was the OT service team leader in Common Mental Disorder Clinic, Substance Abuse Clinic as well as the project leader of research project sponsored by Beat Drugs Fund Association, Narcotics Department, the HKSAR Government. Ms Lam is also active in promoting recovery-oriented practice in mental health services. She is serving as executive members in various professional bodies such as the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association and the Hong Kong Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
In 2024/25, in recognition of her innovative pedagogy, Ms Lam received the Outstanding Young Teacher Award from the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. She also started her PhD in Translational Neurosciences.
