Biography
Mr Stanley Wu obtained his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He also completed his Master’s degree in Psychology of Education at the City University of Hong Kong, and subsequently obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Hong Kong Baptist University, specialising in physical education.
After graduation, Mr Wu worked in a variety of clinical, community and educational settings, including non-governmental organisations, private practice and professional sports teams. Through these experiences, he developed a strong interest in paediatrics. Before joining the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at PolyU, he served as a senior physiotherapist in one of the major NGOs in Hong Kong, gaining extensive administrative experience and clinical expertise in working with children with developmental difficulties. In education, he has been invited to teach child-related subjects in various tertiary institutions, including PolyU, and has served as a visiting lecturer at Sichuan University, sharing his clinical knowledge with students of master’s programmes in physiotherapy in the Chinese Mainland. As a clinical educator for several years, he has been dedicated to helping physiotherapy students apply classroom knowledge to authentic clinical practice.
Mr Wu is an experienced educator and advocate for service-learning, experiential learning and global health exchange. He has led numerous overseas service-learning and placement initiatives to locations such as Xinjiang, Vietnam, Manila (Philippines), Cambodia, Taiwan, Thailand and Rwanda. His work focuses on bridging healthcare gaps for vulnerable populations and fostering culturally sensitive care. He collaborates closely with international partners to promote interprofessional teamwork among students from diverse health disciplines. Through hands-on projects, he empowers students to develop communication, empathy and leadership skills, and to deepen their understanding of the social determinants of health.
In recent years, Mr Wu has been actively involved in the implementation and application of the WHO International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) in different NGOs, and has completed the ICF-StARS and ICF Facilitator courses. In 2025, as a member of the SPACE programme team, he contributed to the project that received the Silver Award in the QS Reimagine Education Awards in the category “Nurturing Employability.” He continues to devote himself to nurturing the next generation of physiotherapists through experiential and interprofessional learning.
