PolyU has received the Gold Award (Higher Education Institutions Category) in the Equal Opportunities Commission’s Universal Design Award Scheme 2026/27, recognising its commitment to creating an accessible and inclusive campus environment.

As an international university with a diverse community of students and staff, PolyU embraces inclusion as a core value. Innovative initiatives such as its interactive Campus Virtual Tour help students, including those with special educational and sensory needs, prepare for campus life and make a smoother transition to university.

The University also supports the needs of its multicultural community through dedicated prayer rooms, Halal dining options and Muslim-friendly facilities. In 2025, PolyU obtained approval from the Water Supplies Department for the installation of Shattaf (handheld bidets) in campus washrooms, further enhancing the inclusiveness and accessibility of its campus environmen.

From virtual navigation tools to culturally inclusive facilities, PolyU continues to embed universal design principles across campus, ensuring that people of different backgrounds and abilities can fully participate in university life.
