PolyU School of Design, one of the top 20 design schools globally, is celebrating its 60th anniversary. PolyU Design has been a pivotal force in shaping the design landscape in Hong Kong and beyond. Over the past six decades, it has nurtured a multitude of talents through its high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, earning international acclaim for its commitment to interdisciplinary education, robust research platforms and entrepreneurial spirit.

 

To celebrate this significant milestone, PolyU Design is set to host a year-long series of activities under the theme “Designing Time”. The festivities will commence with an opening ceremony on 11 March, where the School’s new visual identity will be unveiled, symbolising the opening of a fresh chapter in its illustrious history.

 

One of the key highlights of the celebratory events will be the “One to Ten Outstanding Alumni Exhibition” which showcases the achievements of ten alumni in various design fields. A testament to the transformative power of design and the enduring impact of PolyU Design’s educational excellence, the Exhibition will also serve as a platform to explore the evolution of knowledge dissemination and to rethink the foundations of design.

 

Other activities include the “PolyU Design Show 2024”, a vibrant annual display of the learning outcomes of PolyU Design students across different levels of programmes; the “Global Research in Design Innovation Exhibition”, spotlighting design research projects from around the world; the “Time-capsuled Histories: Six Decades of PolyU Design”, outlining the 60-year history, people and key milestones of the School; and the 60th Anniversary Gala, bringing together all stakeholders to celebrate PolyU Design’s remarkable journey.
