In the Honours List announced by the HKSAR Government this July, more than 40 distinguished members of the PolyU community were recognised with prestigious awards or appointed as Justices of the Peace, in acknowledgement of their outstanding contributions and pivotal roles in Hong Kong’s development.

 

Among this year’s honourees are Professor the Honourable John Leong Chi-yan, University Fellow and former Council Member of PolyU, and Dr the Honourable Charles Yeung Chun-kam, Honorary Life President of the PolyU Foundation and former Court Member of PolyU. They both received the notable Grand Bauhinia Medal, the highest award under the HKSAR Honours and Awards System, in recognition of their lifelong and highly significant contributions to the well-being of Hong Kong.

 

The 2025 list also includes PolyU Court Members Mr Irons Sze and Dr Henry Tan, as well as Council Member the Honourable Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, who were awarded the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Bauhinia Stars respectively, in recognition of their exceptional achievements and leadership in their respective fields.

 

In addition, other esteemed members of the PolyU community, including Council and Court members, Foundation members, University Fellows, alumni, and supporters, were acknowledged for their significant impact on Hong Kong’s progress and prosperity.
