A senior PolyU delegation visited several top universities in Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam to strengthen the University’s global academic partnerships and explore opportunities for joint initiatives in January.

The delegation, led by Council Chairman Dr Lam Tai-fai and including President Prof. Jin-Guang Teng and Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) Prof. Ben Young, visited the National University of Singapore and Singapore Management University to strengthen partnership collaborations. At a series of meetings, as well as during laboratory and campus visits, representatives from the institutions shared expertise and insights.

In Vietnam and Malaysia, Prof. Teng and Prof. Young met with representatives from Ton Duc Thang University and Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia to identify possible collaboration opportunities. They also visited a high school for the gifted in Ho Chi Minh City and gave a talk on PolyU’s development plans to hundreds of Grade 10 to 12 students which was well-received and stimulated a number of questions from the students.

In addition, our Alumni Affairs Office and Global Engagement Office worked closely with the PolyU Alumni Association in Singapore to organise an Alumni Reception, which served as an excellent platform for bringing together alumni from various disciplines to reconnect with friends of the University, expand their professional networks and understand their alma mater’s development plans. It was our honour to have Mr Owin Fung, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore join us for the occasion.

These visits reflect the University’s commitment to nurturing its academic partnerships with renowned institutions and actively engaging prospective students from around the world to study at PolyU.
