PolyU Faculty of Business (FB) joins force with OSL, a digital asset platform backed by fintech and digital asset company BC Technology Group, to establish a joint research centre, bringing together expertise from the digital asset industry and academia to explore innovative Web 3.0 business applications incorporating both AI and tokenisation.

 

Witnessed by Prof. Ben Young, PolyU Vice President (Student and Global Affairs); Prof. Mike Lai, Associate Dean (Academic Support) and Chair Professor of Shipping and Logistics of FB; Mr Dave Chapman, Co-Founder of OSL; and Mr Gary Tiu, Executive Director and Head of Regulatory Affairs of OSL, the agreement was signed by Prof. Brian Kei, Director of the Research Centre and Professor of Practice (Fintech) of PolyU School of Accounting and Finance, and Mr Ken Lo, Deputy Chairman of BC Technology Group.

 

Prof. Kei applauded this groundbreaking partnership which he foresees will shape the future of AI and tokenisation in Hong Kong. Synergising the strengths of both parties, he believes the Centre will contribute to innovation and revolutionise the capital markets.

 

Mr Lo said the collaboration will unlock the enormous potential of AI and tokenisation technology and explore the applications of tokenised representation for real-world assets in a safe and compliant manner, spanning token creation, trading, custody and financing.

 

The Research Centre also seeks to boost students’ career prospects in the industry by offering them experiential learning of and real-world exposure to the dynamic landscape of the digital era. An exciting Hackathon event will shortly be held to stimulate innovation among students while also providing them with opportunities to strengthen ties with industry leaders.
