Together We Excel: PolyU 85th Anniversary celebrations wrap up on a high note

The celebration of PolyU’s 85th Anniversary came to its finale as honourable guests and members of the PolyU community shared a memorable evening at the Celebration Dinner at Hotel ICON on 25 November 2022.

 

Mr Cheuk Wing-hing, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR; Dr Choi Yuk-lin, Secretary for Education of the HKSAR; and Ms Wan Ning, Deputy Director General of the Youth Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, joined the event with community leaders, industry partners, as well as PolyU staff, students and alumni.

 

“Since its inception, PolyU has contributed tremendously to society through nurturing talents,” said Mr Cheuk. “The University has also made impressive progress in academic and scientific research, yielding enormous impactful results.”

 

Dr Lam Tai-fai, PolyU Council Chairman, said that for 85 years PolyU has grown and thrived with Hong Kong society, and steadfastly supported the development of Hong Kong and the Nation.

 

“Looking ahead, PolyU will scale new heights and make further contributions to Hong Kong and the Nation with our unique strengths,” he said.

 

Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, President of PolyU, added that the University will keep striving to excel in providing world-class education and conducting cutting-edge research.

 

Over the past year, PolyU has held an 85th Anniversary celebratory programme under the theme “We Are PolyU · Together We Excel”. Activities under this programme have included the Main Entrance unveiling ceremony, InnoTech Open Day, Art and Culture Series, Grand Concert, Sportathon, Distinguished Lecture Series, Theme Song and Power Up Exercise, and many more.
