The PolyU 85th Anniversary Steering Committee will present a public lecture by Prof. Poon Chung-kwong, PolyU President Emeritus, on “Knowledge and Self-Cultivation” in September.

University education has been focused on the promotion of students’ knowledge and professional calibre. Yet, the cultivation of morals and values are equally crucial to the whole-person development of students. It is the University’s great honour to have Prof. Poon share with us the relationship between knowledge and self-cultivation, and how they complement each other to fulfil the ultimate purpose of education.

Prof. Poon has had remarkable achievements in the fields of scientific research and education. As a passionate educationalist, he devoted 40 years of his life to university education, including nearly two decades as Director of the Hong Kong Polytechnic and President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
