Prof. Alexander Wai appointed as new Deputy President and Provost
Ir Prof. Alexander Wai Ping-kong has recently been appointed Deputy President and Provost for five years, with effect from 1 March 2020. Prof. Wai will take over the post from Prof. Philip C. H. Chan upon his retirement.
Prof. Wai joined PolyU in 1996 and has served as Vice President (Research Development) since 1 July 2010. An outstanding scholar in fibre optic communication, Prof. Wai has published over 200 refereed international journal publications. He was elected Fellow of the Optical Society of America in 2009, as well as Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences, both in 2012.
