Remarks

  • This programme is offered on both full-time and part-time bases to give students maximum flexibility to engage in full-time or part-time study loads. Under normal circumstances, full-time and part-time students can complete the programme within 1 year and 2 years, respectively. Students who wish to extend their studies beyond the normal duration can submit such a request to the Department for consideration.

  • Applicants are required to choose either full-time or part-time study on their application for admission to the programme. Students who study full-time are required to take a minimum of 9 credits per semester.

Aims and Characteristics

Programme Aims

  • Develop Advanced Bilingual and Multicultural Communication Skills: Equip students with the ability to communicate effectively in English, Cantonese and/or Putonghua across diverse cultures, platforms, and professional contexts, with a focus on empathy, leadership, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Cultivate Expertise in Bilingual Event Hosting and Digital Innovation: Provide comprehensive training in the strategic positioning, planning and hosting of international events—including conferences, exhibitions, and mega-events—with an emphasis on bilingual delivery, digital and hybrid formats, and the integration of AI-driven tools and technologies.

  • Foster Strategic, Critical, and Innovative Thinking: Enable students to analyse industry trends, anticipate challenges, and develop creative solutions for event hosting and global communication in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven environment.

  • Promote Professionalism and Industry Engagement: Connect students with industry leaders, professional bodies, and real-world projects to facilitate networking, internships, and career advancement, ensuring strong alignment with employer expectations and industry standards.

  • Support Hong Kong’s Role as a Global and Regional Hub for International Events: Contribute to the development of a future-ready workforce that will sustain and enhance Hong Kong’s reputation as a leading centre for international events, communication, and cultural exchange, and as a gateway for talent and innovation in the Greater Bay Area.
     

Characteristics

 

1. Bilingual, Multicultural, and Strategic Communication 

Develop effective communication skills in English, Cantonese, and/or Putonghua, with a strong emphasis on cross-cultural engagement, stakeholder management, and professional communication across diverse contexts.

 

2. Digital Innovation and Industry-Relevant Expertise

Gain hands-on experience with digital tools and AI technologies for event hosting, including professional etiquette, audience engagement, and data analytics, while receiving comprehensive training in strategic planning, protocol, and crisis communication for international events.

 

3. Experiential Learning with Global and Regional Focus 

Explore real-world cases, participate in projects and internships to build industry connections and practical skills, while deepening understanding of international and Greater Bay Area communication to support Hong Kong’s role as a premier events and cultural hub.
