Cloud Express II VPN service Mainland VPN portal address change

The Cloud Express II VPN service allows staff and research students in Mainland China to connect back to the PolyU campus and selected research cloud services via the Mainland cloud service provider infrastructure in Mainland China and the Hong Kong SAR.  It offers multiple VPN portals in Mainland China to enable users to connect through the nearest entry point.

The addresses of the Mainland cloud service provider VPN portals will require an update to add a new port number: 9443.  Starting from 1 August 2025, the current IP addresses without the port number will no longer be supported.

Action Required for Cloud Express II VPN Users

To ensure uninterrupted VPN access, all existing Cloud Express II VPN users are required to update the settings in the GlobalProtect VPN client program as soon as possible.  Please follow the steps below to make the update:

1.       On your PC, open the GlobalProtect VPN client and go to the configuration settings;

2.       Locate the Portal field in Connections;

3.       Append: 9443 to the current IP addresses of the Portals:

  • Northern China (Beijing): 114.116.238.138:9443
  • Southern China (Guangzhou): 121.37.244.92:9443

4.       Save the changes and reconnect to the VPN.

For detailed instructions, please refer to the guide here.

We recommend that all Cloud Express II VPN users complete the above changes before traveling to Mainland China.
