Introducing the newly launched Radiation Safety Management System RSMS

The Radiation Safety Management System (RSMS) is an online platform designed to facilitate safety and regulatory compliance in the use of radiation sources by researchers at PolyU. The system streamlines the registration, approval, and inventory management processes for both users and equipment, ensuring adherence to university and regulatory safety standards.

Key Features

  • User Registration and Approval
Staff and students must register via RSMS to operate X-Ray machines and other radiation-producing equipment or handle radioactive substances.01

  • Apparatus and Source Inventory Management
RSMS offers dedicated modules for managing irradiation apparatus, sealed sources, and unsealed source licenses. Departments can register new equipment, monitor approval and license expiry dates, and maintain a comprehensive inventory for safety purposes.

STRS – New Feature for RSMS
To further enhance safety and compliance at PolyU, the Radiation Safety Management System (RSMS) now integrates seamlessly with the Online Safety Training and Registration System (STRS). This new feature streamlines the process for users who require radiation safety training and registration, ensuring all laboratory users meet the University’s safety standards before accessing research facilities.

Key Highlight

  • Efficient Training Management
STRS enables users to enroll in essential health and safety training, track their certification status, and download certificates. All certifications are valid for three years, after which refresher training is required.

03

  • Unified Platform
The STRS/RSMS application provides a single, user-friendly interface for both safety training and radiation safety registration, making it easier for staff and students to fulfil all requirements in one place.
    04

  • Integrated Registration Process
Users can now complete their radiation safety registration directly after finishing the required STRS training and test.
