Conducting Active Learning and Interactive Teaching with Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Instructors can use Zoom to promote active learning and interactive teaching. Zoom offers a variety of features — such as video and audio chat, whiteboard, breakout rooms, text chat, and interactive polling — that encourage student participation, collaboration, and real-time engagement. Additionally, Zoom allows students to share their screens during sessions, enabling them to present their work, demonstrate solutions, or lead discussions, further enhancing interactive learning. Instructors can also record class sessions in Zoom, making them available for students to review afterward.
Microsoft Teams, available through Office 365 Connect-Tenant, also supports active learning and interactive teaching. MS Teams provides a chat-based workspace where teachers and students can engage in discussions, share documents, and collaborate through screen sharing and other interactive tools. Instructors can also record classes in Teams, allowing students to revisit the material as needed.
