Work-Integrated Education (WIE) is a special internship programme in PolyU.  WIE is defined as “work-based learning experiences which take place in an organizational context relevant to a student's future profession, or the development of generic skills that will be valuable in that profession.” Its objective is to help students develop a range of valuable generic attributes and to apply theories to real-life situations.

WIE is a compulsory component of all full-time undergraduate programmes in PolyU, including ITC. In order to be eligible for graduation, ITC students must complete one WIE activity of at least 120 hours and get a “PASS” in the assessment during the time of study at the university.

 

What activities will be counted? 

  • The job nature and activities of the WIE must be structured and measurable learning experience in an organizational context relevant to students' future profession in fashion and textiles industry
  • The duration of internship for WIE must be 120 hours or more
  • All WIE activities must be sought prior approval from ITC and obtained a “PASS” in the assessment. Students are highly recommended to complete the WIE before promoting to the final year of study
