First-ever collaboration with Moleskine and Mattel
News

To encourage PolyU students and graduates to share their creative ideas and demonstrate their talent in hand drawing, PolyU collaborated with Moleskine Asia Limited and Mattel Asia Limited to organize the “You can be anything Creativity Inspiring Journey” competition. The contestants were required to design a collection for a well-known fashion doll, Barbie. All of the hand-drawings, which were coloured sketches, had to be drawn in a Moleskine notebook. After two rounds of screenings, 9 ITC students and 1 non-ITC student were selected as the finalists and invited to an exclusive sharing session with Barbie’s lead designer on 30 November 2018. During the session, Mr Simon Lee, Manager of Product Design – Girls Design from Mattel Asia Limited elaborated on the competition and how he came to be a Barbie designer. After that, the winners shared their Barbie fashion designs with each other.

Year One ITC student Fiona Lauryn was the champion of the competition. She and all of the other finalists were given a Barbie collection box set from Moleskine, Barbie Fashionistas Dolls, HK$400 Moleskine cash coupon, a Moleskine smart writing set and a special edition Barbie styled by Marni Senofonte. Fiona Lauryn also chose two of her own designs to be made into real outfits for Barbie, which will be exhibited at the Moleskine Landmark store. The works of the other finalists will also be exhibited at the Moleskine Landmark store from 1 - 10 March 2019.
