ITC PhD student Amy Chen wins IFFTI research award

ITC PhD student Amy Chen was awarded the IFFTI Initiative Award to PhD and Research Students at the 21st Annual Conference for the International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes (IFFTI) for her paper “Style before technology: Rethinking the design process for E-textiles garments”. The award included a prize of $2000 USD.

The IFFTI is an organisation that comprises 61 member institutions from 28 countries. This year’s conference which was held at the Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK from 8 to 12 April 2019 was centred around the theme of “Fashion:ID”. Amy Chen’s paper fell under the subtheme of “Personal:ID” and discussed how fashion designers could seek to balance the integration of technology with their own fashion design process.
