NGO Service Innovation Training Programme

Under COVID-19, different services are taking on new modes of operation. Online classes, video conferencing, food delivery and so on are becoming the new normal – can NGO services also catch up with the changes?

The pandemic has put us directly in the face of the VUCA situation: the environment is Volatile, the future is Uncertain, the NGO service development is subject to Complex factors, yet the cause-and-effect relationships are Ambiguous. How can NGOs uphold its core value to cope with the uncertainty, develop feasible services that meet the needs of users and bring real change in society, and effectively communicate with funding bodies to demonstrate the uniqueness of their programmes so as to secure fundings?

NGO teams who are interested in developing innovative services were invited to join the "Power Up" Training Programme during March to July 2022. The programme was divided into two parts:

1 Proposal Clinic

A team of consultants, comprised of experienced project management from NGOs and Foundations, review the project proposals submitted by 18 NGO team from the grantor's and non-profit project management perspective and identify areas for improvement. The consultations were conducted "One-on-One" to help the participating teams improve their proposals.

2 "Power Up" Design Thinking Training Workship

After the "Proposal Clinic", 10 teams were selected for the next stage to participate in the "Power Up" Design Thinking Workshop The workshop aims to enhance the teams' ability to identify users’ needs, develop innovative solutions and present project ideas so that they can better communicate their ideas to funders and different stakeholders.
