From 9 to 11 July 2026, the 6th MTR Global Operations Standards Institute Technical Seminar (GOSI TS6) was held in Hong Kong. Jointly hosted by MTR Corporation and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Seminar brought together experts and representatives from the railway, aviation, tourism, logistics, technology and academic sectors to exchange views on operational excellence, customer service, digital transformation, railway innovation and sustainable development.
At the opening ceremony, Ir KH Lee, Deputy Director – Operations Engineering Maintenance of MTR Corporation, and Ir Chair Professor Christopher Chao, Senior Vice President (Research and Innovation) of PolyU, delivered welcoming remarks and highlighted the importance of industry–academia collaboration in advancing railway innovation and operational excellence. The programme also featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, group presentations and project showcases by the GOSI Young Members Committee.
On 11 July, participants visited CNERC-Rail at PolyU as part of the technical visit programme. Dr Vincent Wai Kei Ao introduced the Centre’s development, research areas and latest achievements, followed by a tour of its laboratories and research platforms. Discussions focused on smart railway technologies, intelligent maintenance, automated inspection and future research collaboration.
The Seminar provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and further strengthened collaboration among railway operators, industry partners and academic institutions.
