The Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU BRE 2026

 

1. Nomination and Selection Schedule

The Department Award recognises alumni who have made contributions to the University and the wider community through their achievements in respective areas.

Nominations for the Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) are now invited for submission.

• Call for nomination starts from 25 March 2026 
• Nomination Form returns by 26 April 2026

Selection for the Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU BRE 2026 will be conducted in May 2026.

2. Eligible Candidates and Proposers

The nominated candidate must be a graduate who has successfully completed full-time or part-time programme offered by PolyU (or its forerunners: Hong Kong Government Trade School, Hong Kong Technical College, and Hong Kong Polytechnic) which led to academic award accredited by the respective Institution.

The proposer can be a PolyU graduate, Honorary Graduate, University Fellow, PolyU staff, PolyU Council and Court member and Advisory Committee member.  There is no limit to the number of nominations to be submitted by each proposer.  However, the proposer cannot be the candidate himself/herself.


3. Award Categories and Selection Criteria

The selection of the Award considers two criteria:

(1) Support and Contributions to PolyU: This key criterion considers nominee’s support and contributions to PolyU, including his/her leadership and/or support in University event and/or alumni activities, support in advisory committee, teaching, research, or student development, as well as support rendered to PolyU initiatives including financial / in-kind donation, or sponsorship.

(2) Achievement Areas: Three achievement areas serve as a framework for assessing nominee’s achievements in the concerned areas. 

Three specific areas of achievement would be given recognition, they include:

o Professional Achievement
o Entrepreneurial Achievement
o Scholarly Achievement

Description

Professional Achievement
專業成就

This achievement area recognises alumni who have attained distinguished achievements, demonstrated exemplary leadership, and made a strong impact on their profession / industry / society. 

Entrepreneurial Achievement
創業/ 工商業成就

This achievement area recognises alumni who have demonstrated outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as founded or advanced business or technology ventures with impact. 

Scholarly Achievement
學術成就

This achievement area recognises alumni scholars who have made notable scholarly or research contributions in their disciplines, with proven track record and excellent reputation in the field.


Alumni who are aged at/under 40 in the award selection year would be eligible for the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

Notes: The bestowal of the award shall subject to individual merits of the candidates. No award shall be given out in a certain category if no suitable candidate is identified.



4. Nomination to Next Level of Award

The Department's awardee(s) of current year (one senior awardee and one young awardee) will be normally nominated to the Faculty Award (Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU FCE). All Faculty/ School awardees of current year will be normally nominated to the University Award (Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award).

5. Award Selection Committee

The Award Selection Committee of BRE will examine the nominations and assess candidates’ qualifications and performance for the awards. 

6. Confidentiality

All information submitted on the nomination form will be kept strictly confidential and will only be used by the Selection Committee for the purpose of the selection process. The candidate will not be contacted by the Secretariat until he/she is selected as the awardee of the Outstanding Alumni Award of PolyU BRE.

7. Notice of Revocation of Awards

Failure to provide complete and accurate information in respect of the nomination by the proposer may result in disqualification of the candidate. After an award is presented, it may be withdrawn by the University when it is deemed appropriate. The University reserves the rights to amend the rules and criteria at all times.
