On 14th November 2023, the University celebrated the induction of its first group of five Doctor graduates in International Real Estate and Construction. This is a significant milestone for the Department of Building and Real Estate, which already produces a large number of Doctor of Philosophy graduates through research. The DIREC programme, launched in 2020, is the first professional taught doctorate programme in real estate and construction in Hong Kong. Their graduation is a testament to the united efforts of both staff and students.

Dr Felix Chan, Dr Melbourne Cheng, Dr David Kwok, Dr Kelvin Wong and Dr Angela Yuen have shown exceptional dedication and perseverance in their academic pursuit. Their extraordinary efforts and commitments are beyond excellent. We heartily congratulate them on their well-deserved success and look forward to their future personal and societal contributions towards a bright future.” said Prof Michael C.H. The admission team seeks students who demonstrate initiative to combining their practical knowledge in the real estate and construction industry with academic scholarship. The programme not only enriches students with theoretical and technical knowledge for advancement in the top-level industry but also provides international perspectives to tackle competition in the contemporary real estate and construction market.
Applications are now open for the 2024/25 intake of the Doctor of International Real Estate and Construction programme.
