The Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) of PolyU prides itself on its commitment to the development of its students and the realization of a sustainable built environment. This summary will highlight some of its remarkable achievements over the year.

  • Prestigious Endowed Professorship for Prof. Albert Chan – The Able Professor in Construction Health and Safety (more)
  • External Competitive Research Grants (7/2018-6/2019)–over HK$11.8 million
  • Research Grants Council (RGC) General Research Fund (GRF) and Early Career Scheme(ECS)(2019/2020) for 6 Projects–over HK$3.7million
  • Hong Kong PhD Fellowship 2019/20Scheme – 3 Awardees (more)
  • Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management(apfpm)’s Project  Management Award & Hong Kong Institute of Project  Management  (HKIPM)’s Project Management Achievement Award for Prof. Albert Chan’s project :Developing a Personal Cooling System for Combating Heat Stress in the Construction Industry

 

Student Achievements / Awards
  • Over HK$2.8 million in Scholarships was  awarded  to outstanding  BRE  Students(undergraduate and postgraduate) for 2018/2019
  • Numerous Outstanding Paper/Project Awards for BRE Research/Undergraduate Students from CIB, HK Institute   of  Surveyors, HK Institution  of  Engineers,Chartered Institute of Building (HK), HK Housing Society,Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC),Australian Institute of Building (AIB,HK) and HK Ergonomics Society,etc.
  • Best Presentation Award in the West Africa Built Environment Research (WABER) Conference 2019 (more)
  • Two BRE students served as PolyU Student Ambassadors in 2019/2020
  • Champion and 1st Runner-up in the Virtual Reality Competition for Green Deck (more)

  • CIB World Building Congress 2019–Constructing Smart Cities(17-21 June)
