Programme Structure

Students can pursue their studies either on a full-time mode (1-year duration) or a part-time mode (2-year duration).

Master of Science (31 credits required)

Students can choose either one of the following study routes:

  1. Dissertation route: A dissertation (9 credits) that is relevant to intelligent construction PLUS 7 Compulsory Subjects (3 credits each)
  2. Non-dissertation route: 9 Compulsory Subjects (3 credits each), including the Dissertation Replacement Subject ''Integrated Project in Intelligent Construction'', PLUS an elective subject (3 credits)


Full-time students are recommended to take the dissertation route.
Students also must complete a 1-credit bearing subject on Academic Integrity and Ethics (no credit fee will be charged) and a non-credit bearing e-learning module on National Education, which are University's requirement.

In general, each subject involves one 3-hour weekday evening class per week over a 13-week semester, expect those subjects specified otherwise:


Compulsory Subjects for both dissertation and non-dissertation routes:

  • Information Management for Construction and Real Estate
  • Construction Information Technology#
  • Machine Learning and Data Mining for Construction
  • Automation and Robotics in Construction
  • Advanced Visualisation and Interactive Technologies for Construction
  • 3D Printing in Construction: Principles and Applications
  • Research Methods for Construction and Real Estate*^

 

Compulsory Subjects for non-dissertation route only:

  • Integrated Project in Intelligent Construction*
  • Strategic Management#^

Recommended elective subject for non-dissertation path only:

  • Principles of Project Management#

 

Notes:
# Each of these subjects consists of 3 full-day weekend (Saturdays and/or Sundays) workshops.

^ Daytime classes held during weekdays are available for full-time students.
