Master of Science in Brain-Machine Interface

Programme Structure

The programme provides the option for students to engage either in the full-time or part-time study mode.

  • Full-time students normally take five subjects per semester, and the normal study period is 1.5 years.
  • Part-time students normally take two to three subjects per semester, and the normal study period is 2.5 years.

In general, each subject requires a 3-hour class per week over a 13-week semester, and subjects are offered on weekday evenings.

Students who enrol in the programme have the option to select from a wide range of subjects in neural engineering, robotics, brain-computer interface design, and diverse BMI applications.
 
Award Requirements

Students must obtain 31 credits for graduation.

(i) Compulsory Academic Integrity and Ethics (AIE) Requirements; [1 credit]

  • Engineering Ethics and Academic Integrity

 

(ii) 1 Compulsory Subject; [3 credits]

  • Research Methods and Biostatistics

(iii) 4 Core subjects from the list below; [12 credits]:

  • Medical Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis
  • Introduction to BMI and Neuroengineering
  • BMI from Brain and Muscle Signal and Image
  • Brain Neuromodulation
  • Advanced Applications of BMI in Healthcare and Medicine
  • Advanced Applications of BMI for Automation and Control

(iv) 5 Elective Subjects (or 2 Elective Subjects + Dissertation); [15 credits]
