BME wins Two TechConnect Global Innovation Awards

The PolyUStimulator presents a battery-free, ultrasonically-powered, piezoelectric stimulator for functional muscles, nerves and bones. This is co-developed by by Professor Yong-ping ZHENG(right) and Dr Monzurul ALAM(left), Department of Biomedical Engineering

The artificial intelligence based screening system for knee osteoarthritis (KOA) that helps predict the risk of KOA progression wins the award for Mr Toby LI (right) and Mr Justin CHAN (left), MPhil students under the supervision of Dr Chunyi WEN (middle) of Department of Biomedical Engineering of PolyU.


Department of Biomedical Engineering won two "Global Innovation Awards" at the TechConnect Business Virtual Summit and Showcase 2020 (TechConnect). 

The award-winning innovations are:

(1) PolyUStimulator – Ultrasound Driven Piezoelectric Stimulator for Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation by Professor Yong-ping ZHENG and Dr Monzurul ALAM, Department of Biomedical Engineering

(2) A Time-dependent Machine-Learning-based Prediction System for Progression of Knee Osteoarthritis” by Mr Toby LI and Mr Justin CHAN, MPhil students under the supervision of Dr Chunyi WEN, Department of Biomedical Engineering (submission made under CLAIRE Clinical AI Research)
