PolyU BME 10th Anniversary Photo Contest

Competition name: PolyU BME 10th Anniversary Photo Contest – “ My most memorable moments at PolyU BME”

Target: All BME’s staff, alumni, students

Duration: 29 June – 12 Aug 2022 (Submission Deadline: 12 Aug 2022)

Content:

• The most memorable moments at PolyU BME
• Everyone can cast a vote for the favorite photo on our @bme_polyu Instagram platform (from 15 – 19 Aug)

Online Submission : through online form (https://www.polyu.edu.hk/pfs2/index.php/728422?lang=en )

Submission Requirement and Guidelines:

• An entry must be in JPEG format（.jpg）and 8 Megapixels or above. The size of each photo shall not exceed 10 MB. Only online entries to the official website/page will be eligible and no printed or film submissions will be accepted.
• A photo’s title must be provided in either English or Chinese, or preferably in both languages. A photo caption should not be more than 130 characters or 130 English words.
• A submission must be an original which has not been sold, published or entered in other competitions. No advertising of products or companies is allowed.
• Entrants may minimally edit the images, remove spots, crop or adjust brightness and colour saturation of photographs, but not manipulate the content. Computer generated images or composite photos, and watermarks on photographs are not accepted.
• The Organizer, Department of Biomedical Engineering, PolyU reserve the right to reject any photographs which they suspect may have been manipulated.

• Champion : Hotel Icon Dinning Voucher $500
• 1^st runner-up: Hotel Icon Dinning Voucher $300
• 2^nd runner-up : Hotel Icon Dinning Voucher $200
• First 10 applications : PolyU 85^th Power bank
• Most popular photo (with greatest number of votes in IG) : Hotel Icon Dinning Voucher : $300

Selection & Judging:

Awards will be decided by the judging panel consisting of BME staff.

Judging will be based on the below criteria:

• Communication of the Theme - Relevancy, Denotation & Vividness of Message (25%)
• Creativity – Choice of Elements & Uniqueness (25%)
• Technical Merit – Use of Technique (25%)
• Visual & Aesthetic Sense – Photographic Vision (25%)

Results and Notification to Winners

• The results will be announced on our official website in September 2022, and all winners will be informed via their registered emails on prize arrangement.
