On 22 August 2023, Dr. Yang Wei, Associate Professor of Global Health and Public Policy and Director of the Institute of Gerontology at King's College London, is invited to give a research seminar on "Navigating the Publication Process in Health and Ageing Journals". The seminar’s welcome remarks were delivered by Dr. Wu Qiaobing, Acting Head of the Department of Applied Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the seminar was moderated by Prof. Bai Xue, Director of the Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr. Yang Wei, Associate Professor from King's College London, was the seminar speaker to share the tips, techniques and process of publishing in health and ageing journals. Dr. Yang Wei is an internationally renowned researcher whose work has had significant policy impacts in the context of health and long-term care in both China and UK. Her work mainly focuses on measuring the impacts of various health and ageing policies on inequities in access to care using longitudinal survey datasets. Dr. Yang has published widely in high-impact journals such as Social Science and Medicine, European Journals of Health Economics, China Quarterly, Health Policy and Planning and Journal of Gerontology. Dr. Yang holds the Future Research Leader award of Economics and Social Research Council of the U.K. – one of the most prestigious awards to emergent researchers in social science. The seminar attracted researchers, students and practitioners from UGC-funded universities, Self-financed universities, and other institutions in Hong Kong to explore with Dr. Yang how to choose the right journal to submit a paper to; how to improve the quality of a journal paper, including a detailed analysis of the abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion and conclusion; and how to be accepted by a journal, and etc.
