Audit Student Scheme
Many older adults are eager to restart or continue formal learning after retirement. Some of them received little education when they were young; for others, studying at a university would be a dream come true. The Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies (RCGFS) provides a programme for older adults to audit or attend lectures in some of the university’s courses to learn with other The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) students without undergoing assessments or being awarded grades or credits. Older adults may enrol to audit multiple courses per semester.
The RCGFS at PolyU, in collaboration with the main campus, HKCC (Hong Kong Community College), and SPEED (School of Professional Education and Executive Development), jointly organises the "Auditing Student Scheme." A limited number of places in undergraduate courses are reserved for elderly learners as auditing students, providing opportunities for those interested in lifelong learning to attend university-level courses. Each course lasts for one semester, approximately eleven to thirteen weeks. Successful applicants in this scheme will attend classes alongside undergraduate students as auditing students without the requirement to take any examinations.
Course Fee: Free
