Relocation of UBSN is Completed and Change of Booking System

1 Jun 2021

Announcement

We are pleased to inform you that the relocation of UBSN facilities from Core ST to Block Z has been completed. The new laboratories include the Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory (ZB218, with equipment such as Eye Tracker, VICON, Rotational Vestibular Chair, etc.); the Neurophysiology and Brain Stimulation Laboratory (ZB217, with equipment such as EEG, TMS, tDCS, etc.); and the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Laboratory (ZB216). You are welcome to use the equipment in the new laboratories.

To provide a better user experience, our existing online booking system will be fade out from 9 June 2021 at noon. The new booking system (the University Research Facility Management System, URFMS) will be launched on 10 June 2021. The URFMS introduces several new features, including 1) assigning payment sources, 2) fund commitment and allocation, and 3) settlement of payment. These features allow PIs to have better management of their funding on using the UBSN facility. RO has sent an invitation email on 20 May to UBSN PIs to join the URFMS training on 8 June 2021. We encourage all the PIs to join the training session. A user guide will also be available on the UBSN website upon launching the URFMS.

Regarding the equipment booking, we shall have the following arrangement:
1. Users can reserve the UBSN equipment using the existing booking system before 9 June 2021 at noon.
2. For advance bookings after 9 June 2021, please contact UBSN staff (Dr. Kevin Yu for human equipment; Dr. Terence Tam for animal equipment).
3. After 10 June 2021 9:00 am, all users are required to use the URFMS to reserve the UBSN equipment.
4. Please save any required data (e.g., booking record) in the existing system before 9 June 2021 for your record if needed.

Should you have any queries on the above arrangement during the transition period, please contact Dr. Kevin Yu (kevin.kk.yu@polyu.edu.hk) or Dr. Terence Tam (terence.wy.tam@polyu.edu.hk).  Thank you very much for your attention and support.
