魏佩菁博士於香港理工大學取得物理治療學（榮譽）理學士學位及博士學位。於2011及2013年，魏博士分别獲得澳洲研究毅進獎學金及APSR短期研究獎學金到悉尼大學及皇家阿爾弗雷德親王醫院進行慢性阻塞性肺病與哮喘之研究。魏博士的研究興趣包括慢性病患者的管理、心肺物理治療、運動生理學和評估。
魏博士致力改善教學法以促進物理治療教育的發展。她曾以主要申請人和共同申請人的身份，獲得超過100萬美元的教學科研基金，用以添置教學儀器和發展創新教學法，以增強學生的學習能力，並迎合他們在心肺物理治療和臨床教育方面的學習多樣性的需要。魏博士曾獲頒多個教學獎，包括2013/14年度康復治療科學系傑出教學獎、2013/14年度醫療及社會科學院傑出教學表現獎、2016年大學教育資助委員會的教資會傑出教學獎（新晉教學人員組別）、2018年中國教育部的國家級教學成果獎二等獎（高等教育）及2019/20年度香港理工大學校長特設傑出成就獎（個人獎項—教學）。
除了從事教學和研究外，魏博士還為專業服務作出貢獻。她現為香港物理治療學會國際事務及出版分會主席、香港物理治療期刊副主編、並擔任國際心肺物理治療聯會主席(International Confederation of Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapists(ICCrPT）)。
