魏佩菁博士于香港理工大学取得物理治疗学（荣誉）理学士学位及博士学位。于2011及2013年，魏博士分别获得澳洲研究毅进奖学金及APSR短期研究奖学金到悉尼大学及皇家阿尔弗雷德亲王医院进行慢性阻塞性肺病与哮喘之研究。魏博士的研究兴趣包括慢性病患者的管理、心肺物理治疗、运动生理学和评估。
魏博士致力改善教学法以促进物理治疗教育的发展。她曾以主要申请人和共同申请人的身份，获得超过100万美元的教学科研基金，用以添置教学仪器和发展创新教学法，以增强学生的学习能力，并迎合他们在心肺物理治疗和临床教育方面的学习多样性的需要。魏博士曾获颁多个教学奖，包括2013/14年度康复治疗科学系杰出教学奖、2013/14年度医疗及社会科学院杰出教学表现奖、2016年大学教育资助委员会的教资会杰出教学奖（新晋教学人员组别）、2018年中国教育部的国家级教学成果奖二等奖（高等教育）及2019/20年度香港理工大学校长特设杰出成就奖（个人奖项—教学）。
除了从事教学和研究外，魏博士还为专业服务作出贡献。她现为香港物理治疗学会国际事务及出版分会主席、香港物理治疗期刊副主编、并担任国际心肺物理治疗联会主席(International Confederation of Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapists(ICCrPT）)。
