Programme Overview
This programme is uniquely designed for students from diverse construction backgrounds, enhancing their career trajectories and skill sets with integrated, advanced digital capabilities to tackle complex habitat and spatial challenges. Through a structured curriculum, students will acquire cutting-edge knowledge and master innovative methodologies by leveraging modern ICT tools, including Digital Twin technologies, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML), Robotics, 3D Printing, and Immersive Visualisation.
Programme Aims

To equip students with knowledge in spatial design and emerging technologies, enabling them to respond adaptively to challenges in the built environment, through tools such as BIM, Robotics, 3D Printing, Visualisation and Interactive Technologies, and Machine Learning.

To integrate essential knowledge with analytical tools, digital competencies, and transferable skills required of contemporary architectural professionals.

To develop students’ visual, analytical, and collaborative capabilities, enabling them to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across construction and design contexts.

To cultivate critical thinking and a strong research mindset for decision-making and problem-solving in architectural project management using advanced digital approaches.
Characteristics
This programme emphasises a deep integration of AI, machine learning, and data mining with spatial design principles to generate, analyse, and communicate innovative spatial solutions in the built environment. By mastering these advanced tools and concepts, students are empowered to navigate Hong Kong’s evolving architectural landscape and conquer future design complexities. Graduates emerge as visionary leaders prepared to drive meaningful evolution across the industry.
To receive the award from this programme, students must complete 31 credits, comprising 18 credits from Core Subjects, 12 credits from their selected route (either Dissertation or Non-Dissertation), and 1 credit from the Academic Integrity and Ethics (AIE) subject.

Dissertation route: Students must enrol on both the "Research Methods in Intelligent Habitat and Spatial Design" & "Dissertation (9 credits)".

Non-dissertation route: Student must enrol on the "Integrated Project in Intelligent Habitat and Spatial Design" & its pre-requisites, and select 1 Elective Subject of their choice.
** The University’s guidelines for graduation clearly state that for taught postgraduate programmes, students must complete 3 hours of e-learning lectures titled “Understanding China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, P.R.C.”, plus 3 hours of self-study on National Education, and one Academic Integrity and Ethics (AIE) subject (1 credit).

A Bachelor’s degree in architecture, landscape architecture, building, building services engineering, building surveying, civil engineering, construction management, housing management, quantity surveying, property and facility management, project management, information technology or other related disciplines from a recognised institution.

Equivalent corporate membership of relevant professional institutions may be considered for exceptional admissions of non-bachelor’s degree applicants who possess related working experience in the construction industry.

If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the University’s minimum English language requirement for admission purpose.
