City Wander is an innovative smart cockpit feature developed for NIO, designed to enhance urban exploration during weekend drives. The system acts as a witty local companion, sharing engaging city stories, hidden gems, and live event information as users travel through different neighbourhoods. By blending entertainment with cultural discovery, it aims to make driving more enjoyable and inspiring for young city dwellers. Technically, the project explores the application of Vision-Language Action (VLA), an emerging technology that enables vehicles to perceive surroundings through continuous image streams and respond intelligently to user commands. This integration highlights the potential of AI-driven interaction to create personalised, immersive, and context-aware in-car experiences.
