Biography
Dr. Qiuyu (Luca) Lu is an Assistant Professor (Presidential Young Scholars Scheme) in the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Director of the Symbiotic Intelligence Lab, which designs intelligence for mutualism between humans, nature, and machines. He holds a PhD in Design and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University, and has conducted research at the MIT Media Lab, UC Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon University. His award-winning work, published in leading HCI venues, has also been exhibited internationally at Ars Electronica and the Milan Triennale.
He is recruiting 3 PhD students and 1–2 postdocs; research assistants and visiting students are also welcome. Positions may focus on one or more tracks:
- Experimental Track: Engineering and prototyping of novel interactive hardware systems
- Computational Track: AI-aided design, computational design tools, and algorithm development
- Design Track: Design theory, user experience, and integration of emerging technologies
