Biography
Dr. Kong holds a BSc in Computing from the University of Portsmouth, a MA (with distinction) from Central Saint Martins, the University of the Arts London, a MSc in Design, and a Doctorate in Hotel and Tourism Management from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His professional affiliations include Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Life Professional Member of the Hong Kong Designers Association, Full Member of the Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association, Full Member of the Hong Kong Computer Society, Professional Member of the Association for Computing Machinery, Full Member of the Institute of Hospitality, and Certified Hospitality Educator at the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. He is currently actively serving as an executive committee officer for both the Hong Kong Designers Association (Chairman of the Design Education Council) and the IEEE Hong Kong Section Computer Society Chapter (Secretary).
Prior to joining the PolyU Design, he was appointed Associate Director, Programme Leader, and Senior Lecturer at the Hong Kong Design Institute, Course Director at Coventry University in Hong Kong, and Programme Leader cum Senior Lecturer at the Caritas Institute of Higher Education and the Caritas Bianchi College of Career. He has also taught at the City University of Hong Kong, the Open University of Hong Kong, and the Vocational Training Council.
Dr. Kong received numerous design and technology awards, including the HKDA Global Design Awards, the Hong Kong ICT Awards, and the IEEE International Conference Best Paper Awards. His works have been featured in the HK-SZ Design Biennale, the World Expo Shanghai, the Hong Kong Library Festival, the Hong Kong Mobile Film Festival and the Hong Kong International Film Festival. His research interests lie in the interdisciplinary areas of Design for Hospitality, Digital Entertainment, Technology Assisted Learning, Phygital Metaverse Design, and Cultural Art Technology.
